Akkineni Nagarjuna, the son of the veteran Telugu Actor Nageswara Rao Akkineni, was born on 29 August 1959 at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

 Nagarjuna's first Silver Screen appearance was as a child artist in the 1967 Telugu film Sudigundalu directed by Adurthi Subbarao.  His father Nageswara Rao played the lead role in this movie.

 Nagarjun'as first film as a hero was the the Telugu film Vikram which was released  on 23rd May 1986. This movie was the remake of the 1983 Hindi movie Hero.

 Vikram  directed by  V.Madhusudhana Rao and was produced by Akkineni Venkat  In Annapurna Studios. Music for thei film was composed by Chakravarthy. This movie was a box-office hit.
